Not that it’s a surprise to anyone at all, but according to Variety, Avengers: Infinity War is already on track to make between $225-245 million opening weekend. The monster of a film, 10 years in the making, has the potential to take down the record for an opening weekend, currently held by another Disney holding, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
With the pattern of success previously established by every Marvel Studios film to date, there is no doubt that Infinity War will continue to dominate the box office. Currently sitting at 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, and already receiving a positive review from Jim Starlin, the original writer for the Infinity Gauntlet trilogy published in the early 90’s and co-creator of Thanos, one can assume that the last decade of buildup will be well worth it when the film debuts.
In theaters Friday worldwide, Avengers: Infinity War is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin.
