Epix has given a series order to “Pennyworth”, a Batman prequel series that will focus on the Wayne family’s famous butler, Alfred Pennyworth. “Gotham” executive producers Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon will help bring the story to life, focusing on the character’s time living in London and working for Thomas Wayne, the father of Bruce Wayne.

In a ever growing landscape of comic and superhero themed stories, is this a chance to break from the norm? Or is this a prequel story that nobody cares to see? Only time will tell.
