Millarworld Arrives At Netflix

The time has finally arrived.

A year after news hit of the deal, Netflix has finally announced its slated projects with Mark Millar due to be released on the streaming service. Last year, Millar’s company Millarworld was acquired by Netflix in a deal that kept Millar as President giving him control to continue creating comics, TV shows and films.

The slated lineup will feature two TV shows: Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus. Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus: War Of The Damned, Netflix’s Daredevil) will be the showrunner for Jupiter’s Legacy. Also feature will be three films: Empress, Huck, and Sharkey the Bounty Hunter. Millar had this to say to The Wrap about the upcoming projects:

“My wife Lucy and I are 11 months into our jobs at Netflix and it’s everything we hoped for to the power of ten,” Mark Millar said. “To see a movie based on your work every couple of years is incredibly exciting, but to see them all happening at once like this and with talent this high-end is just off the scale.”

For our faithful listeners, you’ll remember that we discussed Huck on one of our episodes. In what could be defined as a blend between Captain America and Forrest Gump, the character of Huck will be a joy to watch on screen once the film is released. We’ll be keeping an eye on any future Millar/Netflix news to come.
