Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Released on PC

Gwent has finally exited its extensive beta stage! This free-to-play strategy card game, alongside the massive Homecoming update, will be fully available on PC tomorrow, October 23rd. This is coming from CD Projeckt Red, the developers of the upcoming futuristic role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077.

Made as a standalone game, Gwent was first introduced to players in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It was a card game within the game where you could duel with various NPCs around the world. You control a variety of characters and combat vehicles, aiming to gather more points than your opponent each round.

The Homecoming update brings big improvements to the game, in addition to overhauls to the core game itself. Some of the bigger aspects include a revamped progression system, an upgraded board which is more focused on the game’s incredible artwork and visual style, and turning Gwent into a battlefield. In this game, it will feel more like having control of an army.

The new trailer below outlines the rules of the game, and gives a preview of some of the new additions coming with the Homecoming update.

The game has certainly come a long way since its first incarnation in The Witcher 3, and promises to deliver a rich and engaging collectible card game experience. Gwent is available now on PC through gog.com. The PS4 and Xbox One counterparts will be released later this year on December 4th.
